So, today I went to the dermatologist to get a mole checked. No big deal, right?
I told the Dr. about my concerns with a raised mole on my arm that was starting to grow a black blob inside of it, and he was like yeah, that's sketchy. BUT have you seen this one on your other arm? We're going to have to biopsy those. And can I make your scar on your neck go away? There must have been a sudden influx of adolescents with zit world on their face since school's gotten out, because man, was he excited to treat my issues.
So, he got to work.
Before I go on, I have to say, this doctor is hilarious. He's all decked out in Spiderman scrubs, and he is EXCITED about life. I hope I don't have to be a repeat customer, but if I am, I at least know I will be entertained and well taken care of.
Anyways. He says he will start with the thing that will hurt the worst. The scar. Yeah, he wasn't kidding. He did a steroid injection on it and it started to feel like it was ON FIRE.
Dr: Does it hurt yet?
Me: (barely breathing from the shock)Maybe a little.
It's still tender.
Next, he injected the area around my moles with something to numb it up, along with more of those wonderful steroids so I wouldn't develop any more scary scars. Those felt like mini fires. With each injection, the Dr. chirped a cheerful "ouch!" then he got to work, scraping away any evidence that a mole was even there. To finish it off, he zapped the cuts with this pointy hot laser thing, then he put the moles into little plastic containers and sent them off.
I am covered in those little circle band-aids.
I sure do hope that my lab results come back with no issues!
